East 26th Street & Downing Avenue Burton Erie, Pennsylvania A vacant lot in one East Erie neighborhood has been causing concern to neighbors in the area for rodent infestations and oil leaks from the abandoned vehicles parked on the lot. The 1800 block of East 26th Street in Burton has remained somewhat undeveloped besides a few houses and townhouses built in 2001 by Donald Crenshaw of Royal Homes Construction, the company well known for building homes around Burton as well as the Parade Street Commons in East Erie in 2019, but it appears Mr. Crenshaw doesn't take very good care of lots he owns.  Franklin Park Shooting Causes Mystery Article Written: January 22, 2023 at 9:13 AM Erie Police are investigating after a shooting occurred in the Franklin Park neighborhood of East Erie. Erie County 911 received multiple calls for shots fired in the area of East Lake Road and Franklin Avenue between Lawrence Park and East Erie around 6:15 PM, Saturday evening. After Lawrence Park Police and Erie Police searched around Lawrence Park and East Erie, Police found 5 shell casings in the 2100 block of East 7th Street in Franklin Park, located in the John E. Horan Garden Apartment complex. No one was reported injured and police believe nobody was a target in the shooting. Erie Police believe somebody shot 5 times into the air with a .43 caliber pistol and took off. Police are currently working with the Erie Housing Authority to look at security footage of the incident on East 7th Street and Franklin Avenue in East Erie.

 Suspect Charged in Rodger Young Park Fatal Shooting Article Written: January 16, 2023 at 12:46 PM Two young men had reportedly agreed to meet at an East Erie park to fight early Sunday morning when guns were pulled and one of the men was shot dead, according to city police detectives. The accused shooter, 24 year old Michael N. Ochrang, of Erie, was in the Erie County Prison Monday morning on aggravated assault and other charges as investigators were awaiting an autopsy on the 21 year old shooting victim, whose name was not released. The autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon. Michael Ochrang lived in the 700 block of Weschler Avenue in the Bayfront neighborhood of Erie. The shooting is still under investigation.  Police Investigating a Shooting at an East Erie Park Article Written: January 15, 2023 at 9:16 AM Erie Police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred in the parking lot of Rodger Young Park near Buffalo Road & Downing Avenue in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie. Not much is currently known of what happened as the scene is still under investigation but what is known is gunshots were heard around 3 am last night and a body was found shortly after in the parking lot bleeding out. The situation is still being investigated and it is not known if there was a possible altercation or a drive-by shooting incident. More information will be posted later when it comes out, this is still an ongoing situation.

 Car Break-In Thieves Now Hitting Lower Eastside Neighborhoods Article Written: January 5, 2023 at 11:01 AM Last night, the same two car break-in thieves that were mentioned in the previous article were spotted once again early in the morning checking and breaking into cars, this time in East Erie's Lower Eastside Neighborhood. Cameras caught the suspects checking cars in the 100 block of Hess Avenue in the Bay Lights neighborhood of East Erie. The same two suspects walked east on East Lake Road into Kingtown checking cars in the 1400 block of East Lake Road. During 3 am, the suspects were caught on camera in the 1900 block of Lakeside Drive in the Lakeside neighborhood of East Erie. The two suspects got into cars in the 2100 block of East 2nd Street in Lakeside and smashed the window of a car in the 200 block of Chautauqua Boulevard in Lakeside.  Erie Police Searching For Three People Involved in East Erie Car Break-Ins Article Written: January 4, 2023 at 8:14 AM Erie Police are currently searching for two people who are involved with breaking and looking into cars throughout the East Erie area. Erie Police were first made aware of the incidents starting on December 14th in the 2200 block of Reed Street near East 22nd Street in the Central Eastside neighborhood of East Erie. Local Ring cameras on neighboring houses in the area caught two suspects wearing dark hoodies going around using flashlights and looking into cars and checking to see if their unlocked, the two suspects got into a few cars left unlocked by mistake in the 700 block of East 21st Street in Central Eastside. The same night, the same two suspects were caught on camera breaking into cars and using flashlights in the 1100 block of East 31st Street near Brandes Street in Southeast Erie.  New Speed Check Store Opens in Millcreek Article Written: January 3, 2023 at 8:45 AM. Kulwant "Lucky" Singh, owner and operator of Speed Check, opened a brand new Speed Check store, the first store located in Millcreek. The new store is located at the former Gulf at 2747 West 12th Street near Filmore Avenue in the Avondale neighborhood of Millcreek Township. Lucky says this is just the beginning of expanding his Speed Check convenience store throughout the Erie area. "We were originally just located in the East Erie area, that was until we opened two new locations in the west side of Erie last year, this is our first location in Millcreek and hope to include more in the future." says Kulwant Singh. Speed Check currently has 8 locations in Erie County and hopes to add more locations in the future.
