 Erie Police Investigating Shooting in East Bayfront Article Written: December 30, 2021 at 1:51 PM. Erie Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday morning in the 400 block of East 5th Street near Parade Street in the East Bayfront neighborhood of East Erie. Gunshots ran out at 3:30 am which lead to a 30 year old man being shot in the leg. He was quickly taken to UPMC Hamot by a private vehicle. Erie Police are still investigating the shooting.

 Attempted Home Invasion Ends in Man Shot in Burton Article Written: December 27, 2021 at 10:47 PM An Attempted Home Invasion occurred tonight in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie. It happened in the 2400 block of Downing Avenue around 10:13 PM. The 68 year old victim told Erie Police that he was watching TV in his bedroom when he heard pounding on his front door and glass shattering. When he went out of the bedroom he saw a black male wearing a ski mask and dark black coat holding a crowbar and a pistol and shot at the victim 2 times hitting his leg. The victim claims he has no idea who the suspect was and never seen him before. The victim was taken to UPMC Hamot to treat the injuries. Erie Police are still investigating and looking into camera footage from neighboring houses in the area.

 Erie Police Investigate Shooting in Southeast Erie Article Written: December 27, 2021 at 11:34 AM Erie Police are investigating a shooting the occurred in the 1100 block of East 26th Street near Brandes Street in the Southeast Erie neighborhood of East Erie near the Southeast Erie and Central Eastside neighborhood boundary lines. The shooting occurred around 1:30 am when the victim was shot in the lower right leg. The man told police that he heard gunshots while walking on East 26th Street and began to run and was shot. The victim had no idea where the gunshots came from and didn’t know if he was the intended target. Erie Police are still investigating the shooting.

 Flooding Becoming An Issue in Burton-Diehl Neighborhoods Article Written: December 27, 2021 at 10:52 AM Flooded Road Glendale Avenue & June Street Diehl, Erie, Pennsylvania Flooded roads and sidewalks are becoming an issue for two East Erie neighborhoods. In the Diehl neighborhood, the roads that are getting flooded are corner of Woodlawn Avenue & June Street, corner of Glendale Avenue & June Street and most sidewalks along the 2200 block of Glendale Avenue are all flooded. “The sewer systems are really terrible in this neighborhood, all full of garbage and trash and the roads haven’t been repaired since the late 1970’s which causes roads to sink.” Says Mary Walsh who lives on Glendale Avenue in Diehl. Most sidewalks and roads on Woodlawn Avenue in Burton are having issues with flooding as well.  Second Drive-By Shooting Incident in One Week in East Erie Article Written: December 14, 2021 at 6:16 PM Erie has been experiencing over 8 reports of shots fired in the city over a one week period and Erie Police are highly concerned of the increase of violent crime. 2 Drive-By shootings occurred in the city in the East Erie area in the past week. Last night, a man’s belt buckle saved him from any injury when his car was shot up. It happened in the 500 Block of East 7th Street near Wallace Street in the East Erie neighborhood at around 10:45 PM. Multiple callers heard 10 gunshots in the area and Erie Police found 7 shell casings location on the scene. The man told Erie Police that he had just arrived in the neighborhood when a black sedan pulled up and began shooting at his car, both cars then left the area.  Woman Stabbed Overnight in Central Eastside Article Written: December 11, 2021 at 11:53 AM An East Erie Woman was stabbed multiple times early Saturday morning, the stabbing occurred around 3:30 am in the 800 block of East 22nd Street in the Central Eastside neighborhood of East Erie. Erie Police we’re called soon after and transported the woman to UPMC Hamot with non-life threatening injuries. Erie Police are still investigating the situation.
