Neighbors and Community Members held a Meet-Up Vigil in the middle of Woodlawn Avenue and Cameron Road in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie today to have a talk about the recent spike of crime and shootings going on in the Burton neighborhood. “This neighborhood was once suburban country in the Southeast side of Erie, now it’s a dangerous nightmare and has been getting worse and worse, we’re all tired of it and we’re all working to fix Burton into what it once was.” says Johnathon Riley who’s lived in Burton since 1963.  Police Still Searching For Two Suspects Involved in a Shooting at an East Erie Nightclub Added Article: September 26, 2021 at 12:42 PM Erie Police are currently still searching for the two suspects involved in shooting a 50 year old man at the Metroplex Bar in the 1800 Block of Buffalo Road near Canton Avenue in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie. The shooting happened just before midnight on September 18th outside of the Metroplex in the parking lot. The victim told police he was trying to break up a fight between two males when one of the male suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg. The victim was transported to UPMC Hamot and appears to be doing well as of right now. Erie Police are still searching for the two suspects as the victim claims he doesn't know who they are.

 Safety Concerns Rise as a Large Fight Broke Out During a High School Football Game Added Article: September 3, 2021 at 3:20 PM. Last night at around 8:50 PM. Erie Police responded to a large fight at the Veterans Memorial Stadium in the Marvintown neighborhood of East Erie. According to police, 15 to 20 people between the ages of 16 and 20 were fighting in the stands. A crowd of people started to leave the stands to head to the exit of the stadium to escape the fight and after doing so, gunshots were fired on East 26th Street near French Street in Marvintown in East Erie. Crowds of people began hiding for cover and some people started running towards State Street and West 26th Street near Glenwood Heights in Erie to escape gunshots and also take cover or hide. After the situation settled down, Erie Police had to pepper spray some of the people involved in the fight and so far made one arrest to a teenage girl who identified herself as a Erie High School student.
