Neighbors and Community Members held a Meet-Up Vigil in the middle of Woodlawn Avenue and Cameron Road in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie today to have a talk about the recent spike of crime and shootings going on in the Burton neighborhood. “This neighborhood was once suburban country in the Southeast side of Erie, now it’s a dangerous nightmare and has been getting worse and worse, we’re all tired of it and we’re all working to fix Burton into what it once was.” says Johnathon Riley who’s lived in Burton since 1963. This meet-up occurred due to the fact there was a shootout on Saturday in the 1900 Block of Woodlawn Avenue in Burton which targeted a car, the car lost control and drove through Woodlawn Avenue Park and crashed into a neighbors garage in the 1900 Block of East 26th Street.
