City of Erie Residents Outraged After Parole Officer Kills Unarmed Erie Man

Residents in the City of Erie are outraged after a Pennsylvania State Police Parole Officer shot and killed an unarmed Erie man Wednesday night. The shooting occurred around 10 PM at the intersection of East 27th Street and German Street in the Marvintown neighborhood of East Erie. The victim, which has been identified as 43 year old Marchello Woodard of Erie, was reportedly sitting in his car when Pennsylvania State Police decided to do a traffic stop on the vehicle. Woodard, who was on parole, was waiting for a family member while sitting in his car. The parole officer who began to talk to Woodard, Woodard allegedly took off and the officer began shooting at Woodard multiple times. Erie Police had then quickly arrived to the scene to discover Woodard still in his vehicle slumped over while the car was still in motion. The next day on July 3rd, protests began by residents at the intersection of East 21st Street and Parade Street in the Central Eastside neighborhood of East Erie, for the justice of Marchello Woodward and for charges of the parole officer who shot and killed him. Pennsylvania State Police - Lawrence Park and Erie Police are still continuing to investigate and it is not known if the parole officer will face any charges as of now.
