An East Erie man was arrested this evening following a Drive-by shooting incident in the east side of Erie. 28 year old Lamar Dowling of East Erie was charged with attempted murder, reckless driving, carrying a gun without a permit and a bunch more charges after he shot at a car five times and ran from police. The incident happened at around 6:42 pm when a white Honda was driving southbound on McClelland Avenue in Diehl and shot at a car inside of the New Concept Car Wash at 2522 McClelland Avenue in the Diehl neighborhood of East Erie. The person inside of the vehicle that was shot at however was not injured but was still sent to Saint Vincent in Erie for evaluation. An Erie Police officer happen to be driving northbound on McClelland Avenue in Eastlawn Hills, witnessed the shooting and quickly got involved into a pursuit. Lamar then sped eastbound onto East 26th Street near the Diehl and Eastlawn Hills neighborhood boundary lines in East Erie and continued into Wesleyville where he crashed into a home in the 2500 block of Station Road in Wesleyville. Luckily the resident of the house was not home neither was anybody during the crash, Red Cross also stepped in to help the family at the Wesleyville home and to help repair the house. Lamar then tried to run on foot but was quickly tackled by Erie Police in the 2400 block of Station Road near Woodlawn Avenue in Wesleyville. Wesleyville Police and Pennsylvania State Troopers out of Lawrence Park also arrived to the scene to help Erie Police out with addition law enforcement in the situation. The victim of the shooting was reported fine and later told Erie Police that “he has no idea who Lamar even was and is just happy to be alive.” Station Road was blocked off from Shannon Road to Francis Street in Wesleyville and McClelland Avenue was also blocked off from East 30th Street in Eastlawn Hills to Fairmount Parkway in Diehl in East Erie. Erie Police are continuing to investigate on why exactly Lamar shot at a car in the first place.
