The planned project to improve the Bayfront Parkway by PennDOT will continue with no further delays even after some controversy. Bayfront Parkway, a road that takes you from Interstate 79 in Erie to East 12th Street to the Bayfront Connector in East Erie, has served a purpose of connecting Erie and East Erie since 2004 and providing residents for easier access to Downtown Erie and the Bayfront. PennDOT is continuing with their plans to add two roundabouts, improved sidewalks and bike paths with pedestrian bridges and improve the intersection of Bayfront Parkway & State Street in Erie. Improvements and the extension of West Front Street and an extension of the Bayfront Bikeway off State Street in Downtown Erie were already completed this year as the demolition of the Harbor View Miniature Golf Course in the 100 block of West Front Street in Erie was completed. Construction for the roundabout at East Bayfront Parkway and Holland Street in East Bayfront as well as another roundabout at West Bayfront Parkway & Sassafras Street in West Bayfront is hoped to begin by Summer 2023 or 2024. Traffic would be rerouted to East 12th Street/West 12th Street in Erie or through State Street in Downtown Erie. The Bayfront Parkway project was also met with a lot of controversy by Earth Justice filing a lawsuit to PennDOT as they believed that this project would create a bunch of runoff into Lake Erie and divide East Erie and Erie residents, despite this, the project planned to continue as normal with slight improvements to help fill the needs of Earth Justice’s concerns. PennDOT hopes this project will help Erie’s Bayfront, East Bayfront and West Bayfront neighborhoods as well as bring more traffic as more improvements continue in the Downtown Erie area.

 No Confirmation of Body Found in Lawrence Park is of Missing Lawrence Park Woman Article Added: November 15, 2023 at 2:04 PM Lawrence Park Police and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a tragic sight Wednesday morning in Lawrence Park. Lawrence Park Fire Department was called to the Lawrence Park Golf Club at 3700 East Lake Road in Lawrence Park where a body of a woman was found at the mouth of Fourmile Creek. Lawrence Park Police and Pennsylvania State Police have blocked off Fourmile Creek Road, East Lake Road to Lawrence Parkway, Iroquois Avenue and Nobel Avenue while the investigation is ongoing. Erie County Coroner, Lyell Cook has not released the name of the victim but has stated that there is no fowl play involved.
