 Community Center to Open in Abandoned School in Burton

Erie Public School’s recently approved the sale of the abandoned Burton Elementary School building located at 1660 Buffalo Road in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie. The new owners of the building plan to renovate the former school building into a community center under the name Burton Community Center. “The Burton neighborhood in particular has been struggling for a long time now and gotten worse after the only neighborhood school closed down a decade ago, this new community center will be able to help the youth in this neighborhood has well as work with them to help prevent any future crimes against children, teenagers and adult in Burton.” says John Vazquez of East Erie. There was no word on when construction will start or when the community center will open but the new owners are hoping to open sometime in early 2024. Burton Elementary School had closed in 2012 and has been sitting abandoned and empty for 11 years.

 No Confirmation of Body Found in Lawrence Park is of Missing Lawrence Park Woman Article Added: November 15, 2023 at 2:04 PM Lawrence Park Police and Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a tragic sight Wednesday morning in Lawrence Park. Lawrence Park Fire Department was called to the Lawrence Park Golf Club at 3700 East Lake Road in Lawrence Park where a body of a woman was found at the mouth of Fourmile Creek. Lawrence Park Police and Pennsylvania State Police have blocked off Fourmile Creek Road, East Lake Road to Lawrence Parkway, Iroquois Avenue and Nobel Avenue while the investigation is ongoing. Erie County Coroner, Lyell Cook has not released the name of the victim but has stated that there is no fowl play involved.
