Community Center to Open in Abandoned School in Burton Article Written: February 26, 2023 at 11:39 AM Erie Public School’s recently approved the sale of the abandoned Burton Elementary School building located at 1660 Buffalo Road in the Burton neighborhood of East Erie. The new owners of the building plan to renovate the former school building into a community center under the name Burton Community Center. “The Burton neighborhood in particular has been struggling for a long time now and gotten worse after the only neighborhood school closed down a decade ago, this new community center will be able to help the youth in this neighborhood has well as work with them to help prevent any future crimes against children, teenagers and adult in Burton.” says John Vazquez of East Erie.
