Two neighborhoods in the East Erie area are going through plans by Erie City Council to add a new city park and redevelop the abandoned homes in the area. However, some city council members don't agree with the new plans. "As much as I would love to see improvement to Erie's east side, I don't agree pushing current residents out is the best idea." says Michael Keys, vice president of the Erie City Council. Plans are to add green space along with a park space being added from the 600 block of East 7th Street in East Erie to the 700 block of East 7th Street in Saint Mary. There is also plans to build new houses in Saint Mary and East Erie and make the neighborhood a more safer place to raise a family. Plans for this are to start by this year or even by next year.
