A 30 year old East Erie man was shot dead after telling a driver to slow down while speeding through a residential neighborhood. Erie Police say Jayson Sack died Saturday after he was shot in the 2200 block of East 20th Street near Franklin Avenue in the Diehl neighborhood of East Erie. 22 year old Joel Atkin of Millcreek was charged with first degree murder, homicide and other related charges. Jayson’s brother, Vinny told Erie Police that the family was having a barbecue Saturday afternoon when the car came speeding by. He says his brother called out to the driver to slow down and the driver came out of the car and pointed a gun at him. He says Jayson tried to disarm the man and was shot in the abdomen.
