One House in Burton Causes Many Problems with Neighbors

This house may just look like a home currently going through renovations, but neighbors in Burton say it’s looked like this for almost 2 years now. “This house has looked in this shape since 2019 and it only took them 6 months to build and finish a house on Pear & Woodlawn. It should not take this long to repair a house.” says Mark Hopkins who lives on Downing Avenue. The house is located in the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue and has been vacant since a fire happened in the kitchen in May, 2018. The home was abandoned until a contractor was hired to repair the home in December, 2019 but hasn’t done that much work to it besides add a door to the side and add a new front entrance. Neighbors in the Erie neighborhood have been complaining non stop about this house to the City of Erie but nothing has been done. The first problem was when the house had junk all up in the front which made it look like an eyesore, that was somewhat taken care of and then overtime the house got vandalized and had looked to be in an unfinished state since 2019.” says a neighbor who wants to be anonymous. We contacted the contractor of the house who owns Erie Real Estate, the contractors name is Jim Brewington and he didn’t pick up when we called and never called us back. Neighbors surrounding the house say the home already makes the struggling neighborhood look bad enough.
