 One House in Burton Causes Many Problems with Neighbors Article Written: February 23, 2021 at 2:17 PM. This house may just look like a home currently going through renovations, but neighbors in Burton say it’s looked like this for almost 2 years now. “This house has looked in this shape since 2019 and it only took them 6 months to build and finish a house on Pear & Woodlawn. It should not take this long to repair a house.” says Mark Hopkins who lives on Downing Avenue. The house is located in the 1700 block of Glendale Avenue and has been vacant since a fire happened in the kitchen in May, 2018. The home was abandoned until a contractor was hired to repair the home in December, 2019 but hasn’t done that much work to it besides add a door to the side and add a new front entrance. Neighbors in the Erie neighborhood have been complaining non stop about this house to the City of Erie but nothing has been done.  Central Eastside Residents Wake Up to Early Morning Gunshots Article Written: February 2, 2021 at 7:50 AM Residents in the Central Eastside neighborhood of East Erie were awakened real early in the morning. Gunshots were reported in a alley on East 25th & Brandes Street around 7:30 AM. Most witnesses claimed they heard 5-6 shots in the area. Erie Police arrived to check out what happened and only found 4 shell casings in the alley. Erie Police are currently patrolling in the areas of East 26th, 25th and McKinley Avenue as well as using helicopter patrol to try and find the suspect involved. Erie Police believe the shooting was possibly gang related or a disagreement since it happened in an alley but Erie Police are still investigating.
