 Two Bodies Found in East Erie Nature Trail Park in Burton Added Article: January 27, 2021 Residents in Burton in East Erie have been complaining about clean up duties and security patrol at the East Erie Nature Trail Park off of  East 26th Street and McCain Avenue. So a local Burton resident who wishes to remain anonymous, decided to head to the park themselves to clean up the trash and dumped tires, they were horrified to discover two bodies which they believe were just placed there possibly a day ago. "I was walking into the part off of 26th & McCain and as I started walking more into the park, I started to notice a strong smell of death, that's when I discovered the bodies." says the Burton resident. Erie Police were quickly called to the scene and Erie County Coroner was able to identify the bodies from how recent they were dragged there. The Abandoned Home where the body was discovered.  2708 Downing Avenue Burton Heights, Erie  Erie Police Discover Body in Abandoned Burton Heights Home Added Article: January 26, 2021 at 9:14 AM EST At Approximately 5:30 AM, Erie Police received a call from someone who was taking a walk for a foul smell coming from an Abandoned building on the 2700 block of Downing Avenue in the Burton Heights neighborhood of East Erie. Erie Police arrived a few minutes later to investigate the building to find a decomposing body. Erie County Coroner roughly identified the body as a adult male possibly in his 30’s. Erie Police then quickly treated this as a possible murder or homicide case. After further investigating, police found a pool of blood in the garage by the abandoned house and police believe that’s where the victim was killed then dragged into the attic of the house.  Multiple Residents Injured in New Years Gunshots Incidents now in custody Article Written: January 25, 2021 at 4:37 PM On New Years Day 2021, Erie County 911 got a whole bunch of calls for shots fired all around East Erie. Erie Police responded to the calls to realize there was a group of men around different parts of Erie shooting off guns into the air, this is called “New Years Gunfire” which happens every year in Erie and has been a problem for the past 10-20 years. Multiple residents were actually injured due to the random shots and Erie Police made many arrests.  Erie Police were first called to the Kingtown neighborhood where 2 people were struck by random gunfire in the head in the 1200 block of East Lake Road. Erie Police found the suspects hiding in an abandoned home and arrested 26 year old Andre Phillips and 29 year old Keonte Williamson both of East Erie. Erie Police then received a ton of calls for shots fired in Burton and responded to the 1600 block of Woodlawn Avenue.

 Arrest warrant issued for East Erie man wanted in shooting a teenage boy Article Written: January 25, 2021 at 4:25 PM. An East Erie man is wanted by police for shooting a 19 year old boy in the East Erie neighborhood. The shooting happened on January 17th in the 600 block of East 12th Street and 1200 block of Ash Street. The suspect was identified as 21 year old Zion Fleming of East Erie as he is currently wanted by the Erie Police.   HANDS to build 15 Homes in East Erie Added Article: January 23, 2021 at 12:55 PM EST The progress for the brand new HANDS Midtown Revitalization project which will be adding 15 homes to the neighborhood is almost about finished. The project is focused on areas of Holland Street to Parade Street, as well as East 12th Street to East 14th Street. There is houses already being build in progress on the empty lot next to Country Fair at 337 East 12th Street in East Erie. There will also be 10 new apartment buildings constructed as well. This project is hoped to improve the East Erie neighborhood as well as make it a safe and great place to raise your family once again. According to HANDS, there will be two new parks installed through this project and hopes to have the project done by the end of Summer 2021.

1201 Kitchen Building on East 12th & State Street in Erie.        1201 Kitchen to close East Erie restaurant in April     Article Written: January 23, 2021 at 12:44 PM EST The 1201 Kitchen  restaurant located at 1201 State Street in the East Erie neighborhood just outside of Downtown Erie, announced that they would be closing down their State Street location. The restaurant will be closing on April 15, 2021. The current owners said that there will be a new restaurant moving into the former location and will still be a restaurant. The new location which has yet to announce where it will be moving to will be open by October, 2021 if plans go well. 1201 Kitchen has been a staple in Downtown Erie for over 14 years and most residents are sad to see it go.

  Photo Credit To: Google Maps Street View Massive Gunfight in Burton Heights Shopping Center Article Written: January 23, 2021 at 12:24 PM EST ERIE, PA - According to Erie Police Scanner, as well as Erie Crime Alert Applications and the Neighbors by Ring app. A massive gunfight took place in the parking lot of Perry Plaza in the Burton Heights Neighborhood of Erie. The shooting took place at around 11:00 AM in the 2200 Block of Broad Street and the 1200 Block of Fairmount Parkway in Erie. As reported there was two males involved who were shooting around the plaza, as of right now those two males have yet to be identified. Erie Police responded rather quickly to the scene after receiving many 911 calls for shots fired near the Perry Plaza. No suspects have been announced as of right now as Erie Police are still investigating on what exactly has happened.
